The United States government donated over 1.5 million doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to Ethiopia last week, a day before revoking Ethiopia's AGOA eligibility. This is the first batch of Pfizer vaccines in the country, following over 10 million doses of the AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, and Johnson & Johnson jabs donated over the past seven months. The majority of the 12.4 million doses the country has received thus far, including the recently arrived Pfizer batch, have been coming in through the World Health Organisation's COVAX facility. The US has donated around four million doses thus far.
