Berhan Bank Appoints New Acting President

Berhan Bank has appointed its vice president for customer service and quality assurance, Bethlehem Getachew, as its acting president beginning November 3, 2021. Her appointment came following the resignation of the Bank's former President Abraham Alero on October 30, 2021. Abraham had served as the Bank's president for seven years before relinquishing his post for personal reasons. Bethlehem had held the post of vice-president for close to four years. She will be one of two female top executives in the Ethiopian banking industry, along with Malika Bedru, president of ZamZam Bank. Birtukan Gebreegzi, former president of Wegagen Bank, resigned from her post less than a year after being appointed in late 2020. Berhan Bank netted 551.6 million Br in 2019/20, while its paid-up capital grew to just under 2.5 billion Br over the same period.
