The Ethiopian Roads Authority kicks off the construction of the one-billion-Birr Debre Berhan to Ankober road construction project. The 42Km long road passes through four kebeles before reaching Ankober wereda, a home for King Sahle Silassie and birthplace of Emperor Menelik II. The government fully funds the project and is expected to be completed in two years. The new road enables residents of Ankober to directly travel to Awash Arba in Oromia Regional State, easing the hassle to reach the area though Addis Abeba. “The project boosts the economy of the towns located through the project line and the tourist flow,” said Samson Wodimu, the Authority’s communications director.
