City Bureau Revokes Employment Agency Licenses

Over a dozen security service and domestic employment agencies have had their licenses revoked by the Addis Abeba City Adminstration Bureau of Labour & Social Affiairs. Sebhatu and Sons (S&S), Agar, and Walat are among the fourteen private security firms that have had their licenses rescinded after the Bureau conducted a month-long study on alleged illegal activities in he industry. The study showed that out of 314 agencies, about 200 were violating the law through engaging in illegal activities such as working without a trade license, according to the Bureau. The agencies were obligated to renew their licenses with the Federal Police Commission and the Bureau but failed to do so.

Food Prices Push Inflation to 15.3pc

Ethiopia's inflation rate rose to 15.3pc in July 2026 from 13.7pc in the same month last year, reaching its highest level in the 13-month period covered by Ethiopian Statistics Service data.
