A daily labourer fatally fell to his death from a building construction site in front of Flamingo Restaurant on Africa Avenue on December 15, 2018. Police arrived on the scene quickly, seen here among the victim’s co-workers. Most construction sites in the city present hazards to workers’ safety. Notice the absence of any protective fencing around the edge of the building where the police and workers are standing. It is common to see construction workers without protective gear suspend from great heights without harnessing or stepping on unstable scaffolding.
