Bole Airport Adds COVID-19 Test Centre

A new COVID-19 test centre has been opened on the Ethiopian International Flight Hub at Addis Abeba Bole International Airport. The centre is administered by BGI Health Ethiopia, a subsidiary of China's biotech giant, BGI Genomics. Dubbed Huo Yan Air Lab, the new centre comes equipped with technology and has the capacity of undertaking 1,000 COVID-19 tests a day and plans to expand to 5,000 shortly. According to company executives, the laboratory performs tests for departing, arriving, and transit passengers and guarantees delivery of results within three hours. The facility is said to be the first laboratory established and operated by a Chinese company in Africa.
