Premier Inaugurates Yirgalem Agro-Park

Four of the 11 production sites at Yirgalem Integrated Agro-Industrial Park, in Sidama Regional State, were inaugurated with the presence of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) and former Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn. The Park, which rests on 300ha of land, was built for 1.4 billion Br. The first phase of the Park, which is being developed by the Sidama Regional State Industrial Parks Development Corporation, is now completed, and four of the production sites built so far have begun work in processing avocado oil, honey and coffee capsules. An additional eight manufacturing industries are also preparing to commence production after completing the installation of plant machinery. The Park uses more than 90pc of its inputs from domestic production, according to the Ministry of Trade & Industry. The Park is one of the 17 Integrated Agro-Processing Industrial Parks the country targets to have by 2025.
