Japan donated 90,000 dollars last week for the construction of a library and teachers' rooms at Temenja Yaj Primary School in Addis Abeba. The school requested Japan's assistance to accommodate its growing student body and to provide support in the creation of an improved learning environment. The grant, contributed through the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), was finalised during a signing ceremony between Ambassador Ito Takako and Abate Kelbe, the school principal, held at the school. The grant will be used to fund the construction of a new building on the school's premises that will house a library and five teachers' rooms. Japan has implemented over 400 projects across Ethiopia since the GGP was launched in 1989, including a 71,000 dollar grant for public park development in Addis Abeba proffered just a few months ago. The GGP supports community needs in areas such as education, sanitation, health and food security.
