Cordaid Donates PPE Worth 67m Br

Cordaid, the Catholic Organisation for Relief & Development Aid, has donated COVID-19 protective equipment worth 67 million Br to the Ministry of Health. The handover ceremony held on Friday, October 16, 2020, took place in the presence of Country Director for Cordaid, Akinyi Roselyn Wallander, Dereje Duguma (MD), state minister for Health, and Henk Jan Bakker, the Dutch ambassador to Ethiopia. The equipment is earmarked for use by both public health workers and the general public. It will be distributed to the Oromia, Amhara and Somali regional states. The majority of the aid was sourced from the Dutch government, while the remaining came from the Dutch Relief Alliance, the European Union and Cordaid itself. Despite the heavy pressure that COVID-19 has inflicted on the health sector and economy, the country has shown encouraging performance in dealing with the pandemic, according to Dereje.
