South Korea Supplies Sub-Saharan Countries with 2m Masks

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Ethiopia has donated two million masks to Sub-Saharan African countries through the African Centres for Disease Control & Prevention (Africa-CDC) on Friday, July 24, 2020. The Korean government has partnered with Africa CDC, a public health agency under the African Union, that supports public health initiatives of member states for the coordination of aid in African countries. The donated masks will be distributed to 28 Sub-Saharan countries, including Ethiopia, that have requested support in containing the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). The Korean government has previously aided Ethiopia with the provision of medical supplies, facility construction and capacity building worth seven million dollars. It has, through the Africa CDC alone, contributed nine million dollars of in-kind and financial assistance as well.
