MultiChoice Ethiopia, the country’s sole distributor of Digital Satellite Television (DStv), has added eight local television channels to its offering. The company has taken on Oromia Broadcasting Network, Amhara Mass Media Agency, Tigrai Mass Media Agency, Arts, LTV, Walta, Nahoo TV,  and Asham TV television channels under its DSTV packages. The eight channels are for local viewers to access native television channels and FM radio stations in an all-in-one platform. The new channels are offered to viewers without supplementary charges to their customers. Recently, the Sub-Saharan broadcast satellite service, with over two decades of service in Africa, has brought along the Kids Channel to assist children with home-schooling during the closure of schools owing to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). The new channels also include the Mindset Pop Channel, which offers a range of subjects for grades one to three and grades four through nine. The special package is offered at the lowest charge in an effort to provide an educational resource until the pandemic phases out. DStv has been in the subscription television service for close to two decades. It offers over 115 channels in various packages ranging from eight to 80-dollar monthly fees. Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporate (EBC), Ethiopian Broadcasting Service (EBS) and Fana Television, the three most viewed local channels, are already a part of DStv.
