School Association Donates 25m Br

The Ethiopian Private Higher Education & TVET Institutions Association donated 25 million Br in financial and non-financial support to the initiative to prevent the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), on April 24, 2020. Members of the Association made buildings, halls, cars, food, and cleaning materials available to the government, according to Molla Tsegaye, president of the Association. From the total fund, the Association has already donated over half a million Birr in cash to combat the virus. In addition, 3,942 medical professionals recruited from the private sector have been trained to respond to national calls. The Association will also work in conjunction with the Ministry of Science & Higher Education in an effort to keep students learning at home using technology and other partnering platforms nationwide, according to Molla. In the country, the total number of confirmed cases has reached 122 as of April 25, 2020. Out of the total number of people who have acquired the virus, 29 have fully recovered, while three deaths have been reported.
