CANAL+, EBC Link Up for Pay-TV Service

CANAL+, a European media company and pay-TV operator, signed a partnership agreement with the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC), the public broadcaster. The agreement allows CANAL+ to distribute its future Ethiopian pay-TV offerings via ETV News; ETV entertainment, an entertainment channel with music, talk shows, comedy programmes and Ethiopian drama series; ETV languages, a generalist channel with multilanguage programmes; and three radio stations, Ethiopian Radio, FM Addis 97.1 and FM 104.7. Through this agreement, CANAL+ aims to aggregate the Ethiopian channels and radio stations in its future pay-TV offer, according to a statement from the company. The latest agreement is the second for CANAL+, which recently partnered with Nolawi Film Production and the Ethiopian Film Producers Association. CANAL+ Group totals more than 20 million subscribers worldwide. It is owned by worldwide content, media and communications group Vivendi.
