Water Ministry Taps into Digital System

Offices of Water & Energy will be integrated to exchange data as part of boosting service delivery by digitising water metring for customers. Ethio telecom is tasked to install the digital infrastructure and provide technical assistance with an agreement between Minister of Water & Energy Habtamu Itefa (PhD) and CEO of the telecom Firehiwot Tamiru formed at the Skylight Hotel (Airport Road) last week. According to the Minister, the integration is expected to cut income losses due to technical errors which have become frequent across the country with the capital losing nearly 17 million dollars. Habtamu also disclosed that Ethiopia had received a 300 million Br grant from the World Bank to aid efforts in minimising damages caused by floods during the event.
