The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UN-ECA) is in a total shutdown and is undergoing a sanitation process of its entire compound after an employee was tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). The staff, previously advised to work from home as a precautionary measure against the pandemic, are now obligated to stay home except for a small number of security, cleaning and medical professionals who are following strict safety guidelines. As part of the development organisation's preparedness plan, the organisation has contracted Addis Abeba Silk Road General Hospital to provide medical care and assistance to its employees. The Hospital was inaugurated at the end of last year.
