Tourism has generated 2.6 billion dollars in the first three quarters of the current fiscal year. The revenue was generated from the approximately 500,000 tourists who have arrived in the country, according to Hirut Kassaw (PhD), minister of Culture & Tourism, in her report on the performance of her office to parliament. During the first half of the current fiscal year, the revenue was 1.4 billion dollars and the number grew by 1.1 billion dollars in just the past three months. In the last fiscal year, Ethiopia generated 3.5 billion dollars from 900,000 tourists.
