The Ethiopian Coffee & Tea Authority(ECTA) reviewed its first-quarter performance for the 2025/26 fiscal year last week, at a meeting in Adama. General Director Adugna Debela (PhD) highlighted historic revenue from the previous fiscal year and underscored the country's untapped potential in coffee and tea exports. He said the authority is targeting three billion dollars in export revenue this year and believes coordinated, efficient work could exceed that goal. Adugna outlined government-backed strategies and research-driven reforms aimed at boosting productivity and expanding foreign markets. Fekadu Deferes, lead executive for Coffee, Tea, & Spice Development, presented a performance report covering development and marketing activities, including updates on the EU-Yayu DESIRA project.
