The Ethiopian Electric Utility awarded six projects that will electrify 25 towns to three Chinese and one Korean company on February 15, 2021, for about 24 million dollars. A mini-grid solar farm, the project is funded jointly by the government and the African Development Bank (AfDB) and is expected to provide access to electricity to over 145,000 people. Ethiopia plans to have universal electricity coverage by 2025, with about 125 towns getting access over the past half year.
