The Ethiopian Red Cross Society donated supplies worth over 26.7 million Br to the ministries of Health and Education as part of its effort in fighting off the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ministry of Health received 6,400 medical gowns, 700 surgical gowns, and 265,000 pairs of latex gloves with an estimated value of more than 15.5 million Br. The Ministry of Education also received 512,000 reusable face masks worth over 10.2 million Br.
The Red Cross also announced that it has managed to reach some 13.6 million people through its humanitarian efforts over the first half of the current fiscal year.
The Ethiopian Red Cross Society was established in 1935 and began by providing humanitarian services to wounded soldiers and civilian victims of the second Italian invasion of Ethiopia.
