Plan International in collaboration with the International Rescue Committee has launched PlayMatters: a new five-year initiative to educate over 800,000 children in refugee camps and host community children in three East African countries. The project, which will deliver education to children between three to twelve years old in refugee camps and host community children in Ethiopia, Uganda and Tanzania, also aims at strengthening children’s resilience and building their social, emotional, cognitive, physical and creative skills. PlayMatters will be implemented at refugee camps in five regional states of Ethiopia: Gambella, Somalia, Tigray, Benishangul-Gumuz and Afar. The initiative will enhance positive, safe and playful interactions between caregivers and children in a manner that promotes their collective wellbeing.
