Sidama Bank has introduced a new digital banking application today at Skylight Hotel, on Africa Avenue, featuring remote account opening, digital payments, check requests, and access to term deposit services.
The system will add manual scan of ID of the user and information on key performance index to open accounts remotely. Activation of the accounts can also be done digitally.
According to the Ban, the platform allows customers to open accounts without visiting a branch. Additional features include requesting checks and managing term deposits through the application.
Sidama Bank currently serves 400,000 customers. In the second phase of the rollout, the Bank plans to introduce micro-saving and micro-lending services. A credit scoring system is also expected to be added alongside the micro-lending feature.
Tadese Hatiya, president of the Bank, disclosed that the application is part of the digitalisation efforts of the Bank, which a total deposits of 4.5 billion Br and total assets of 6.2 billion Br.
