Ethiopia’s exports under the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), a US law, increased by 62pc since last October 2017. In the reported time Ethiopia exported 137 million dollars worth of products to the United States. The eight East African countries have exported one billion dollars worth of products- mainly apparel - to the United States under AGOA. The figure shows a 17pc rise from last year and a 42pc increase since the USAID Hub began. Kenya leads the East African nation with 454 million dollars worth of exports to the United States. About 84.4pc of AGOA exports is accounted for by apparel.
