The restriction on fuel-powered and three-wheeled vehicles would continue, according to Minister of Finance Ahmed Shide. The circular was rolled out following the Governor of National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) Mamo Mihretu's announcement which indicated lifting the restriction on 38 commercial items. The Ministry issued a circular to the central bank, the Ministry of Revenues, and the Customs Commission. As Ethiopia propels towards a green economy under the current administration, the use of alternative transportation including electric cars and bicycles has been promoted by the state officials.
