Ireland Grants 10m Euros for Safety Net

Dec 5 , 2018

The government of Ireland granted 10.4 million Euros for the productivity safety net program. The program aims to enhance and improve vulnerable and food insecure household livelihoods, resilience to shocks, food security and nutrition. The grant is the result of the agreement signed four years ago between the countries to provide grant funding for the phase IV safety net program, which has been implemented since 2015. The grant agreement was signed by Ahmed Shide, minister of Finance, and Sonja Hyland, ambassador of Ireland to Ethiopia. Just a week ago, Ethiopia received five million dollars from Sweden and 11 million dollars from Norway for forest development and in support of vulnerable youth. Ethiopia and Ireland began their diplomatic relations in 1994.
