A total of 20 projects worth three billion dollars are currently being implemented in Ethiopia under the Horn of Africa Initiative, which held a performance review platform last week. This initiative, established in 2019, seeks to economically integrate Horn of Africa countries through development projects. Finance Minister Ahmed Shide accentuated the initiative's goals of enhancing infrastructure connectivity, strengthening trade and economic integration, building resilience to natural and man-made problems, and reinforcing human resource development. With initial plans to raise 15 billion dollars for the region, the Initiative has secured over 7.5 billion dollars from the World Bank, the European Union, and the African Development Bank. Seven Ethiopian ministries reported on their project performance at the review, providing feedback for the 23rd Horn of Africa Initiative countries' finance ministers' conference in Addis Abeba this week. The Initiative includes Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Sudan, and South Sudan.
