Geepas, Belayab to Open Electronics Factory

Geepas, a consumer electronics company, signed an agreement with Belayab Group to start manufacturing and assembling Geepas products with an investment capital of 20 million Br. The manufacturing plant built in Adama will start manufacturing 10 types of electronic and home appliances. These include television sets, multimedia speakers, juice blenders, coffee grinders and gas and electric cookers. The plant will have an annual production capacity of 60,000 television sets and over 150,000 small domestic appliances. Initially, the company will start production with 80pc of its capacity, according to Bekele Mideksa, deputy general manager of the company. The company will open job opportunities for over 50 people when fully operational. Thirty-five technical employees have already been hired. Geepas has been in the consumer industry for the last three decades with its more than 1,500 products in various sectors such as home and kitchen appliances, entertainment products, personal care, lighting, power tools and bath fittings. It has been in the Ethiopian market for nearly two decades. Currently, Geepas has a presence in 85 countries.
