ECX Transacts 36.1b Br Worth of Commodities

The Ethiopian Commodity Exchange has traded 698,349tn of agricultural commodities worth 36.1 billion Br over the past 11 months, achieving 96pc of its target. The transacted volume and volume has surged by 10pc and 16pc, respectively, compared to the same period last year. Out of the total value, coffee was on top and accounted for 281,000tn and 22.3 billion Br. Sesame followed with 240,000tn and 10.4 billion Br, volume and value, respectively. Soybeans, green mungbeans, white kidney beans and red kidney beans followed coffee and sesame. Coffee covers up to 40pc of the total value, while sesame accounted for 34pc of the overall transactions. Coffee has shown an increase by a percent in comparison to last year and has surpassed this year’s volume target per transaction by six percent.
