The 127th celebration of the victory of Adwa at Menelik square becomes a spectacle as government security block passage to the statue of the Emperor who led the battle. The battle which saw invading Italian forces retreat after fierce resistance from the Ethiopian block, has become fodder for ethnocentric politicians to plot factions with one another. While the battle had instigated some international newspapers in the period to regard 'Abysinians' as non-black, rising ethnic fever in the country is requesting a revision of history.
