Ambo, a town in Oromia Regional State 108Km west of Addis Abeba, has finished a new bus station, built for 56 million Br. The new bus station was built on a 12,000Sqm plot of land and has waiting areas, cafes, an information centre and a parking lot that holds up to 600 vehicles at a time. The construction of the station began three years ago and was expected to start service earlier. But the project was delayed due to the contractor’s lack of capacity, according to Boja Woldemichael, head of the town’s Transport Authority. “This station is not only going to improve the transportation service, but it is also going to strengthen the trade activity in the area,” said Terefe Bedada, the town’s mayor.
