The Ministry of Transport and Addis Abeba University have signed a memorandum of understanding to launch a masters degree programme focused on road and transport security. The program targets to solve or reduce the social, economic and political impact of traffic accidents and last week, the Ministry signed a similar agreement with the Ministry of Education to implement road safety classes in secondary schools around the country. According to data from the Federal Police Commission, some 1,848 people died in traffic accidents in Ethiopia during the first six months of the current fiscal year while over 2,600 people sustained serious physical injuries over the same period.
