Aschalew Belay, founder of Belayab Motors Plc, acquired Bambis Supermarket, one of the oldest supermarkets in the capital. The supermarket, which is located on Jomo Kenyatta Street, is currently under renovation and will be re-opened before the coming Ethiopian New Year. Bambis Supermarket, a pioneer in the wholesale and retail business, was established 68 years ago by its Greek owner, Charalambos Tsimas, also known as Bambis. The supermarket was nationalised during the Dergue era. Belayab Motors was established in 2006 as importer and distributor of light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and industrial equipment.
