Addis Abeba Water & Sewerage Authority has signed an agreement with the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) to enable its customers to pay their bills through the Bank. The new service will enable the Authority’s 560,000 customers to settle their payments from wherever is convenient for them, according to Bacha Gina, president of CBE. Zerihun Abate, CEO of the Authority, admitted that many complaints are lodged against his organisation for the way it collects bills. He expressed his certainty that the new service will completely resolve those issues. Integrating the two organisations’ networks is being completed, according to Derege Fufa, vice president of bank services. “Using such digital technology will help reduce transactions in paper notes,” he said. CBE has already reached such agreements with Ethiopian Electric Utility, Harar Water & Sewerage Authority, Ethiopian Airlines, Document Authentication & Registration Agency and MultiChoice Ethiopia.

It combines cow-focused advisory services, technology, market links and farmer capacity-building to raise dairy productivity. The work has centred on helping farmers produce surplus milk for sal...
