Addis Pledges 10m Br for Pan-African University

Addis Abeba City Administration has pledged 10 million Br for the construction of Pan-African University, which will be built at the historic city of Adwa, Tigray Regional State. The announcement was made by  Solomon Kidane (PhD), deputy mayor of the city, who is in Mekelle for the 44th anniversary of TPLF. The cornerstone of the University was laid on April 23, 2017, by former Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and Yoweri Museveni, president of Uganda. The university will operate as a subsection of the existing 10 other centres administered by the Pan–African University, a tertiary Research Institute. The University has five thematic areas and operates only in five countries in Africa. The respective countries that set up the centres, including Kenya, Algeria and Cameron, get funding from international donors such as the Chinese government, Germany and the World Bank.
