Over 45,000 Sudanese refugees in Amhara and Benishangul regional states foresee food assistance of one million euros through the agreement made by the France government and Plan International Ethiopia. The project will be implemented over the 9-month period in Metema woreda of Amhara, and Kumuruk and Guba woredas of Benishangul. The Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) approved five million dollars for the two regional states for six months period. Officials from the French Embassy and Plan International inked a deal last week. Over 60,600 people have crossed into Ethiopia since the onset of the conflict in Sudan. According to United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), the ongoing crisis has put pressure on the struggling social infrastructure in the regional states.
