A month-long travelling bazaar that aims to stimulate trade activities in the Tigray Regional State will commence in Wukro, Adigrat, Maychew and Mekelle towns next week. It aims to supply commodities to the consumer and is expected to host a panel discussion on the prospective actions that need to be taken to improve security issues and trade relations with the remaining regional states. Cooperative unions and manufacturers from all parts of Ethiopia are expected to take part in the event dubbed 'Peace Tigray Travel Bazaar'. The bazaar comes following the discussion between officials at the Ministry of Trade & Regional Integration (MoTRI) and the interim regional administration three weeks ago. Basic consumer goods supply, fuel subsidies application, online registration of trade licenses and identifying trade-related areas in need of assistance were plans undertaken by the officials during their meeting. According to Teshale Belihu, state minister of the Ministry, foods and hygienic materials are the major products that will be showcased at the travel bazaar mainly targeted to ease the market tension created due to the supply disruption. Officials hope the bazaar will play a vital role to bring back the business activities hybernated for nearly two years following the outbreak of the northern war.
