Apr 8 , 2023

A digital court system moves one step closer to the realisation as the E-court system foresees instalment following the partnership between the Supreme Court and Ethioteleco during the signing ceremony held at the Skylight Hotel last week. According to Tewodros Mihret, chief justice, digitisation of the judiciary is paramount in renewing the legal system, which is far from quenching the public's thirst for a quick and reliable court system. Tewodros said the project is expected to be delivered in six months, and the instalment needs to be performed cautiously since the efficacy of the system is vital for the judiciary incumbent to provide quality judicial service. The state-owned telecom is expected to provide telecom infrastructures such as network operation centres, modular information systems and area networks. Firehiwot Tamiru, CEO of Ethiotelecom, said the project aims to enable organisations to use the telecom infrastructure as their leverage. She mentioned the ultimate goal of the E-court project and others undertaken in partnership with other ministries is part of the effort to realise a digital Ethiopia.
