Hikmet to Address Ethio-American Finance Professionals in Virginia

Ethio-American finance professionals gathered in Virginia, United States, to discuss Ethiopia's accounting and audit laws, with the prospect of the country launching a capital market. The Director General of the Accounting & Audit Board, Hikmet Abdella, is expected to appear and deliver the keynote speech at an event planned for Sunday, December 18, 2022. Hikmet is a board member of the newly established Capital Market Authority; she is expected to discuss the progress of the new reforms with the finance professionals in the Diaspora. The Ethio-American Society of Finance Professionals (ESFP), an organisation aiming to address the accounting, auditing, and finance profession, organised the discussion under the theme "bringing the finance professionals one step ahead." The association was established in 2016 with 10 members, eventually growing to 100 registered members. Through the years, it has created a networking platform where diaspora finance professionals can share information while guiding young professionals to navigate their newfound careers. Presentations and discussions on financial wellness, stock markets and changes in the US tax laws are expected to be addressed at the event.
