Nov 5 , 2022

Addis Abeba's outskirt is to see a dairy and poultry centre under construction with a 800 million Br project cost. The project was launched to compensate farmers displaced from the Koye Feche area for the capital city's expansion projects. The Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation, established in 2015 with a registered capital of 20.3 billion Br, is working on the construction, with close to 92pc complete. The project will comprise a veterinary clinic, animal feed processing, storage unit, and administrative offices. The processing centre will be erected on a 14hct of land holding 80 blocks housing 4,000 chickens under 10 poultry sheds. The dairy facility houses 30 cows and oxen, with 10 sheds for milk and breed services. It will also have 32 shops to sell animal feed. A 300-meter cube water reservoir has already been created to facilitate the vast water requirements of the project. It is hoped to create jobs for over 2,000 farmers and herders.
