Dashen Avails 25m Br Loan to Businesses in Gambella

Dashen Bank availed 25 million Br loan to businesses operating in Gambella Regional State. The loan will be disbursed through Gambella Microfinance Institution. The regional government will provide collateral on behalf of the businesses that will take the loan. Two years ago, Dashen, one of the leading private banks, availed five billion Birr loans to close to 6,000 youth registered under medium-size enterprises. Dashen Bank is among the first generation of private commercial banks whose growth in capital grew exponentially and its asset base expanded impressively. Last month, Awash International Bank (AIB) launched a program dubbed “bridge” to reach out to the underserved segment of the market through microfinance institutions. The Bank has made 5.5 billion Br available in credit for small enterprises and farmers to be disbursed through the microfinance institutions (MFIs) in the coming three years.
