Revenues from the export of the country's most valuable commodity have topped 1.2 billion dollars this year, according to the Ethiopian Coffee & Tea Authority. Revenues have well surpassed the 900 million dollars generated last year, the highest ever. Officials at the Authority had set their eyes on a little over one billion dollars in revenues this year. Over 210,000tn of coffee was shipped abroad over the first nine months of the financial year. The biggest buyers are in Germany, the United States, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. China has been a growing market for coffee traders over the past couple of years. Coffee remains the country's top export item, followed by cut flowers, khat, and gold.
