Coffee Exports Generate $645m in Seven Months

Around 162,000tn of coffee was exported over the first seven months of the financial year, generating 645.1 million dollars. The figure is close to 300 million dollars higher than coffee export revenues recorded over the same period last year. Germany tops the list of primary destinations for the cash crop, accounting for 137 million dollars of the total. Saudi Arabia and Japan follow. The climb in revenues and export volumes is attributed to high international prices and the availability of new options in the coffee supply chain, according to Ethiopian Coffee & Tea Authority The country earned 658.1 million dollars from the export of coffee, tea and herbs over the reporting period. The Authority targets earnings of a little over one billion dollars from coffee exports this year.
