Healthcare professionals have administered over six million doses of COVID-19 vaccinations since the Ministry of Health kicked off a campaign in mid-November, 2021. A total of 9.9 million doses have thus far been dispensed to nearly 8.5 million people, many of whom are fully vaccinated. The Ministry began administering vaccines in March this year following the donation of over two million doses of the AstraZeneca jab through the World Health Organisation's COVAX facility. It has since received millions of doses of the Sinopharm, Johnson & Johnson, and Pfizer vaccines. The number of daily COVID-19 cases in the country has been on a steep decline since the pandemic's third wave subsided at the end of October. Nearly 6,800 people have lost their lives to the virus since the first case was recorded in March 2020.
