Japan Grants 7.9m Br to Schools

Two schools in the Southern and Sidama regional states are the recipients of a 7.9 million Br grant from the Japanese government. Part of the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects, the funds will be used to build additional classrooms at Kololo Primary School in the Southern region and Yuwo Secondary School in Sidama. It is expected to enable an additional 350 students to enroll at the schools. The agreement was signed between Ambassador Ito Takako and officials from the Tesfa Foundation in Addis Abeba last week. Half of Ethiopia’s population is under the age of 19 and over 50pc of children in the country do not have access to early childhood education.
