Oct 3 , 2020

Germany has provided a 100-million-euro grant to support the Ethiopian government's budget to buffer the implementation of the national Novel Coronavirus (COIVD-19) multi-sectoral preparedness and response plan. The grant agreement was signed by Ahmed Shide, minister of Finance, and Stephan Auer, Ambassador of Germany to Ethiopia. The support will be extended to widen the social protection measures to cover more vulnerable parts of the country, especially communities in dire need of food aid and essential services, according to Ahmed. Assisting Ethiopia on the pandemic response plan is one of Germany's commitments to effectively respond to the pandemic, according to Stephan.
