Ethiopia, France Ink €20m Grant Agreements

Ethiopia and France have signed two grant agreements amounting to 20 million euros for the renovation of the National Palace and assisting the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) development programme. The agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shide, and Country Director of the French Development Agency, Valerie Tehio, on July 16, 2020. The renovation and opening of the National Palace was initiated on March 12, 2020, and will be financed with 12 million euros from the grant. The remaining eight million euros will go toward assisting the Agricultural Transformation Agency’s micro, small and medium enterprises development programme, a part of the Agriculture Commercialisation Cluster (ACC) scheme. A total of 1.8 million agribusiness farmers and 1,340 agricultural MSMEs are expected to benefit from the programme.
