Chaired by Mamo Meheretu, chief trade negotiator and senior adviser to the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has formed a national committee that will further negotiate Ethiopia's long over due accession to the global trade police, the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Comprising 10 members, the committee is composed of representatives from the Office of the Prime Minister; ministries of Foreign Affairs, Revenues, Finance and Trade & Industry; as well as the National Bank of Ethiopia; and the National Planning & Development Commission.
Chaired by Mamo Meheretu, chief trade negotiator and senior adviser to the Prime Minister, the national committee is now holding its first meeting at Hyatt Regency Hotel on Africa Avenue (Bole Road).
The committee will be tasked in the resumption of trade talks with drafting the schedule and agenda for the negotiations, advising the government on trade-related aspects, recommending policy and law revisions to certain areas of government and advising the Prime Minister.
